People Power Party Completes Nomination for June Local Elections in Gyeongnam Region

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On June 1st, the nomination of People Power Party public office candidates for the Gyeongnam region in the nationwide simultaneous local elections was completed.


The candidate for Governor of Gyeongnam Province is former National Assembly member Park Wansu, and the candidate for Changwon Special Mayor is Hong Nampyo, former head of the Science and Technology Strategy Headquarters at the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning.


The candidate for Mayor of Jinju is Mayor Jo Gyu-il, for Mayor of Tongyeong is Cheon Young-gi, spokesperson of the Gyeongnam Provincial Party, for County Head of Goseong is former Goseong County Council member Lee Sang-geun, for Mayor of Sacheon is Park Dongsik, chairman of the Provincial Council, for County Head of Namhae is former County Head Park Young-il, and for County Head of Hadong is former Provincial Council member Lee Jeong-hoon.


The candidate for Mayor of Gimhae is Hong Taeyong, former chairman of the People Power Party Gimhae Gap District Committee, for Mayor of Miryang is Mayor Park Il-ho, for County Head of Uiryeong is County Head Oh Taewan, for County Head of Haman is County Head Jo Geun-je, and for County Head of Changnyeong is former Provincial Council member Kim Booyoung.


For the Geoje mayoral election, Park Jong-woo, head of the Geoje Livestock Cooperative, is the candidate; for Yangsan mayoral election, former Mayor Na Dong-yeon; for Sancheong County Head election, Sancheong County Council chairman Lee Seunghwa; for Hamyang County Head election, County Head Seo Chunsu; for Geochang County Head election, County Head Gu Inmo; and for Hapcheon County Head election, former Provincial Council member Kim Yooncheol were finalized as candidates.


For the metropolitan councilor (provincial councilor) elections, the candidates for Changwon City are Seo Minho in the 1st district, Baek Taehyun in the 2nd district, Park Haeyoung in the 3rd district, Park Jun in the 4th district, Lee Chanho in the 5th district, Lee Jaedoo in the 6th district, Park Namyong in the 7th district, Kang Yongbeom in the 8th district, Jeong Gyuheon in the 9th district, Jeong Ssanghak in the 10th district, Jin Sangrak in the 11th district, Lee Jangwoo in the 12th district, Jo Youngmyeong in the 13th district, Park Dongcheol in the 14th district, Park Chunduk in the 15th district, and Lee Chiwoo in the 16th district.


For Jinju City, the candidates are Jeong Jaewook in the 1st district, Park Seongdo in the 2nd district, Jo Hyunshin in the 3rd district, Yoo Gyehyun in the 4th district, and Kim Jinbu in the 5th district.


For Tongyeong City, the candidates are Kang Seongjung in the 1st district and Kim Taegyu in the 2nd district; for Goseong County, Baek Sumyeong in the 1st district and Heo Dongwon in the 2nd district; for Sacheon City, Im Cheolgyu in the 1st district and Kim Hyuncheol in the 2nd district; for Namhae County, Kim Changwoo; and for Hadong County, Kim Guyeon were selected as candidates.


For Gimhae City, the candidates are Choi Hakbeom in the 1st district, Seo Heebong in the 2nd district, Choi Dongwon in the 3rd district, Kwon Yochan in the 4th district, Joo Bonghan in the 5th district, Park Byeongyeong in the 6th district, Lee Siyoung in the 7th district, and Kang Minsu in the 8th district.


For Miryang City, the candidates are Jang Byeongguk in the 1st district and Yesangwon in the 2nd district; for Uiryeong County, Kwon Wonman; for Haman County, Jo Youngje in the 1st district and Jo Inje in the 2nd district; for Changnyeong County, Seong Nakin in the 1st district and Woo Gisu in the 2nd district; for Geoje City, Jeong Suman in the 1st district, Jeon Gipung in the 2nd district, and Yoon Junyoung in the 3rd district.


For Yangsan City, the candidates are Lee Yongsik in the 1st district, Lee Youngsoo in the 2nd district, Choi Youngho in the 3rd district, Kwon Hyukjun in the 4th district, Park In in the 5th district, and Heo Yongbok in the 6th district; for Sancheong County, Shin Jongcheol; for Hamyang County, Kim Jaewoong; for Geochang County, Park Jueon in the 1st district and Kim Ilsu in the 2nd district; and for Hapcheon County, Jang Jinyeong was finalized as the candidate.


The first candidate on the metropolitan council proportional representation list is Park Jinhyun, head of the Women’s Team at the People Power Party Gyeongnam Provincial Party; the second is Noh Chihwan, former advisory member of the Presidential Local Autonomy Development Committee; the third is Jeon Hyunsook, former advisory member of the Presidential Transition Committee’s National Integration Committee; the fourth is Lee Chunduk, former resident autonomy committee member at Naeseo-eup Office in Changwon City; and the fifth is Im Jinhee, vice chair of the Youth Committee at the People Power Party Gyeongnam Provincial Party.


The People Power Party Gyeongnam Provincial Party Nomination Management Committee announced that at the 79th Supreme Council meeting held on the 9th, they decided on candidates for basic local government heads, metropolitan councilors, metropolitan council proportional representatives, basic councilors, and basic council proportional representatives in the Gyeongnam region.
