[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Plant Association and the Shipbuilding & Offshore Industry Human Resources Development Committee (Shipbuilding & Offshore ISC) will hold the 'Daegu Region Shipbuilding Sector In-house Partner Skilled Workforce Matching Day' on the 12th at the Cheonma Gymnasium of Yeungnam Polytechnic University in Daegu.
According to the Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Plant Association on the 11th, this matching day is jointly hosted by the Association, the Shipbuilding & Offshore Industry Human Resources Development Committee, the Daegu Regional Human Resources Development Committee, the Ulsan Regional Human Resources Development Committee, the Ulsan Job Foundation, Yeungnam Polytechnic University Career Plus Center, and the Geoje Shipbuilding Hope Center.
Twenty in-house partner companies of Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard located in the Ulsan area will participate, with a total recruitment scale of 140 people including welders. The number of recruits by field and wages will be disclosed through Worknet before the event. Job seekers who wish to apply can bring their resumes and other interview documents on the day of the matching day and anyone can have an on-site interview.
The matching day event will provide various information and consulting for job seekers, including an explanation of the shipbuilding industry specialized recruitment/job-seeking platform (skilled workforce by shipyard), interview booths for participating companies, and an employment consulting booth (resume correction/interview coaching).
The Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Plant Association stated, "Recently, with the rapid increase in ship orders, there is a demand for workforce recruitment in occupations such as welding and painting, and we expect that the manpower supply and demand issue will be somewhat alleviated through this matching day."
Meanwhile, the Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Plant Association has been selected as the 'Representative Institution of the Shipbuilding & Offshore Industry Human Resources Development Committee (ISC)' since 2015 with the support of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, and is planning and carrying out various projects for industrial manpower supply and training.
