CJ invests 22.4 billion KRW in fandom startup 'Be My Friends', becoming the second largest shareholder

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] CJ Group announced on the 10th that it has invested 22.4 billion KRW in the fandom business specialized startup 'Be My Friends.' CJ and CJ OliveNetworks participated in the investment, with CJ securing the position of the second largest shareholder in Be My Friends.

The two companies have agreed to collaborate on fandom business-related projects. Specifically, they will jointly promote fandom services using Be My Friends' 'BeStage' platform. CJ will provide intellectual property (IP) and networks related to music, videos, and artists, while Be My Friends will offer exclusive content and membership services through BeStage.

Additionally, CJ OliveNetworks plans to introduce value-added services on BeStage, such as creator non-fungible token (NFT) production and harmful content blocking, utilizing its proprietary technology.

A CJ representative stated, "In the 'creator economy' sector where creators and companies communicate directly with fandoms and generate revenue, CJ's abundant IP assets will be a competitive advantage."
