Hyundai Oilbank, The Transformation of Gas Stations from Car Wash to Storage Never Ends

Hyundai Oilbank, The Transformation of Gas Stations from Car Wash to Storage Never Ends Hyundai Oilbank Used Market Platform 'Blue Market'

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Gas station spaces are being transformed into self-car wash stations or product exhibition areas.

Hyundai Oilbank announced on the 10th that it opened a garage-type premium self-car wash at Bukak Self Gas Station in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, in collaboration with car wash reservation platform company Teamwiper.

Noting that existing gas station automatic car washes take up a large space but operate only during the day, an automatic door was installed at the exit of the tunnel-type automatic car wash to create an independent space.

The garage-type indoor self-car wash service can be used without waiting time through a reservation and payment system during nighttime hours after the automatic car wash operation ends. The car wash is equipped with facilities for self-car washing such as high-pressure washers, foam guns, air guns, lighting, and heating and cooling systems, allowing unlimited use within the reserved time.

Hyundai Oilbank continues efforts to transform gas stations into new platforms. In the car wash sector, it has introduced various services such as premium car wash, hand car wash, and pick-up car wash, and also launched car wash gift certificates that can be used at nationwide directly operated gas stations.

In 2019, it started a business renting gas station spaces as rental storage in cooperation with MakeSpace, expanded platform business by leasing gas station spaces as micro logistics centers for distributors at specific times, and launched the gas station-specialized small franchise 'BluePick' in partnership with New York Hotdog & Coffee.

It also launched the used goods market platform 'Blue Market' within the Bonus Card app 'Blue', started a 5G repeater business in partnership with LG Uplus and KT, and released an IoT shared parking business with Hancom Mobility.

A Hyundai Oilbank official said, "With the rapid increase in camping car users, we are planning camping car-related services," adding, "We are also considering a business that provides gas station spaces as exhibition areas for products from different industries and acts as an agent or broker for the sale of those products."
