Gwangju Fire Department Conducts Wildfire Prevention Public Broadcast Using Drones

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Fire Safety Headquarters announced on the 9th that it conducted wildfire prevention publicity broadcasts using drones to raise interest and awareness about wildfire prevention.

The publicity broadcasts were carried out twice, on the 30th of last month and the 7th of this month, at five locations including Jeungsimsa Temple within Mudeungsan National Park, using fire department drones equipped with speakers.

Drones produce less noise and downwash compared to helicopters and can fly at medium and low altitudes, making them effective for promoting wildfire prevention to citizens.

Gominja, head of the Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “We will gradually expand the use of drones not only for wildfire prevention publicity but also for minimizing mountain accidents such as searching for missing persons.”
