Kim Byung-jun, Chairman of the Special Committee on Regional Balanced Development of the Presidential Transition Committee
[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] The Presidential Transition Committee's Special Committee on Regional Balanced Development announced policy tasks on the 8th, including the expedited construction of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport.
The Regional Balanced Development Special Committee held a public briefing at Daegu EXCO on the same day and announced policy tasks to be promoted in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. Attendees included Kim Byung-joon, chairman of the Regional Balanced Development Special Committee, Kwon Young-jin, mayor of Daegu, Lee Cheol-woo, governor of Gyeongbuk, and committee members Hong Seok-jun and Lee In-seon.
In addition to the integrated new airport promotion, Daegu's policy tasks selected included fostering 5+1 future new industries, modernization of the KTX station area, creation of a cultural and artistic hub on the site of Daegu City Hall and the former Gyeongbuk Provincial Office, modernization of the textile and dyeing industrial complex, construction of the Dalbit high-speed railway and undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Line section in downtown Daegu, creation of an eco-friendly premium riverside space along the Kumho River, and diversification of water intake sources in the Nakdong River basin.
Gyeongbuk's tasks include expansion of the metropolitan transportation network, resumption of construction of Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4, fostering accelerator-based new industries and future car industries, fostering vaccine bio industries and promoting wellness industries, establishment of a smart agriculture cluster, and realization of the Nakdong River cultural tourism renaissance.
Chairman Kim stated, "Based on the seven major pledges promised by President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, we plan to faithfully implement and manage regional balanced development policy tasks."
