[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Soo-young, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate for Yangcheon District Mayor, held a grand opening ceremony for his election office at 4 p.m. on the 7th near Mokdong Station in Yangcheon District, attended by about 1,000 people including Song Young-gil, the Seoul mayoral candidate, National Assembly members Lee Yong-seon, Jeon Hye-sook, Seo Young-kyo, former Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young, and local figures.


On this day, candidate Kim Soo-young stated, “Over the past eight years, I have worked on the ground with hands-on leadership and with the heart of a mother mayor to achieve development in Yangcheon together with the residents,” and introduced his vision for uninterrupted development of Yangcheon. In particular, Kim expressed his ambition to become the ‘Omega 3 Mayor’ who will realize five major (Mega) pledges, including reconstruction and redevelopment, and the establishment of a light rail transit network, based on his experience as a two-term mayor and his crisis management capabilities.


Introducing the preliminary candidates for the Yangcheon electoral district nominated by the Democratic Party of Korea, Kim Soo-young said, “Based on the achievements we have made together so far, let us fulfill the residents’ wishes and realize uninterrupted development of Yangcheon, including improvements to the residential environment and the establishment of transportation networks,” reaffirming his determination.


Kim Soo-young, candidate for Yangcheon District Mayor, is the first female mayor of Yangcheon District and a two-term mayor (6th and 7th terms of direct election). She has served as president of the Ewha Womans University student council, adjunct professor in the Department of Social Welfare at Soongsil University, and member of the Presidential Committee on Jobs.
