Inherited 1.7 Billion Debt from Second Husband's Divorce
Both Third Marriage and Divorce Were 'Decisions for the Children'
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Nayeon] Actress Kim Hyesun's reason for taking on her ex-husband's debt of 1.7 billion won has been brought back into the spotlight.
On the 6th, Channel A's 'Happy Morning' revisited the turbulent marriage and divorce of Kim Hyesun.
Kim Hyesun, who married in 1995 and divorced after 8 years, remarried a businessman in 2004 but divorced again after 5 years. Then, she met her third husband in 2016, but their marriage ended in separation last November, marking all three marriages ending regretfully.
It is known that Kim Hyesun took on a debt of 1.7 billion won when divorcing her second husband. At that time, she received custody and parental rights of her daughter on the condition that she repay her husband's debt. However, in 2012, she invested 500 million won borrowed from an acquaintance but was scammed, and eventually, unable to repay the debt, she applied for simplified rehabilitation and then bankruptcy.
Choi Jeonga, a reporter from Sports World who appeared on the broadcast that day, explained, "The debt left by Kim Hyesun's second husband was private loans. The interest alone was as high as 16 million won per month. Even if the interest was paid just one day late, she reportedly received about 100 calls and texts. Kim Hyesun borrowed money from acquaintances to pay the interest," she said.
Kim Hyesun's third marriage and divorce were all decisions made 'for the children.' Reporter Choi added, "When deciding on remarriage or third marriage, what they care about is the children's happiness. Kim Hyesun's third husband had a very big personality difference with the children. The conflict between the children and the husband eventually led to divorce," she added.
