Relaxation of Accommodation, Bus, and Experience Fee Support Criteria
Full Support for Travel Agencies Attracting Group Tours
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Now that we are in the COVID-19 endemic period, how about an extended stay trip rather than a day trip?
Ulsan City is changing its group tourist attraction incentive system to attract tourists in line with the resumption of international tourism and the activation of domestic extended stay tourism.
The group tourist attraction incentive is a policy that supports a certain amount of money when travel agencies and tourist hotel businesses attract tourists who use tourist attractions, restaurants, accommodations, etc., according to the Tourism Promotion Act.
The areas to be revised and changed as of the 2nd are domestic and foreigner accommodation fees, day tour bus fees, experience fees, and promotional expenses.
For foreigners, Ulsan City has relaxed the accommodation incentive criteria from a minimum of 8 people to 5 people or more, supporting 20,000 KRW per person per night for up to 3 nights.
For domestic tourists, the support remains the same as before: 20,000 KRW per person per night for groups of 8 or more, and when both accommodation and day support criteria are met, 50% of experience fees up to 20,000 KRW will be supported.
Also, the day tour bus fee support has been lowered from 350,000 KRW (per day, per bus) for 16 to 19 people and 500,000 KRW for 20 or more people to 300,000 KRW and 350,000 KRW respectively. This is a measure based on pre-COVID-19 standards to increase extended stay tourists rather than day tourists.
A new support project has been added to provide 20,000 to 40,000 KRW per vehicle for groups of 4 or fewer railway passengers who use rental cars or shared vehicles.
Ulsan City plans to cooperate with related industries to adjust the concentration of tourists, as the number of tourists has been steadily increasing recently but tends to be concentrated on weekends.
Ulsan City stated, “With the full lifting of social distancing, individual and group tourists visiting Ulsan are expected to continue increasing,” and added, “We plan to strengthen incentive support to attract tourists, develop tourism products, and secure competitiveness in the tourism industry.”
