Gwangjin-gu will expand the installation of Gwangjin-type Traffic Smart Poles (photo) at four locations within school zones to create a safer pedestrian environment.
The Gwangjin-type Traffic Smart Pole is a smart complex facility that combines various functions such as streetlights, traffic signs, vehicle detectors, and CCTV into a single pole.
The large LED display on the smart pole shows ▲ pedestrian crossing entry status to protect short children ▲ vehicle speed display ▲ monitoring screen for illegal parking vehicles, allowing drivers to immediately check and respond.
Also, the intelligent CCTV on the smart pole quickly detects and alerts about hazards and provides more accurate vehicle information. By using the QR code attached to the pole, users can directly access the Gwangjin-gu website to check various news about Gwangjin-gu.
Last year, Gwangjin-gu installed smart poles in eight elementary school zones?Gwangnam Elementary, Gunam Elementary, Yangjin Elementary, Dongja Elementary, Gwangjin Elementary, Sinyang Elementary, Gwangjang Elementary, and Sinja Elementary?to improve the pedestrian environment for children and received positive feedback from residents.
This year, the district plans to further strengthen children's pedestrian safety by installing Gwangjin-type smart poles in four additional school zones: Dongui Elementary, Gwangjang Elementary, Hyoji Daycare Center, and Cheonggu Ewha Kindergarten.
The installation locations were selected considering local characteristics such as side roads with school entrances, areas with blind spots caused by habitual illegal parking, and places with accident risks.
Gwangjin-gu expects that integrating various facilities, which were previously disorderly installed on narrow roads, into one and enhancing functions for the safe walking of children and residents will provide a safer and more pleasant traffic environment for both pedestrians and drivers.
