[Asia Economy Reporter La Youngcheol] Kim Jintae, the People Power Party candidate for Governor of Gangwon Province, requested government-level support for the 'GTX-B Line extension to Chuncheon' and the 'attraction of Samsung Electronics semiconductor factory to Wonju' from President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol during his visit to Gangwon Province on the 4th.
The GTX-B Line extension to Chuncheon and the early completion of the East-West High-Speed Railway connecting Chuncheon and Sokcho are also key pledges of President-elect Yoon's presidential campaign.
Candidate Kim stated, "President-elect Yoon, who visited Gangwon Province as the final destination of his 'promise and livelihood journey,' started his schedule by visiting Chuncheon Station on the Gyeongchun Line to listen to issues related to the expansion of Gangwon Province's railway infrastructure, including the GTX-B extension to Chuncheon and the early completion of the Chuncheon-Sokcho East-West High-Speed Railway."
Kim added, "The people of Gangwon Province have a special affection for the President-elect. They requested that transportation infrastructure projects in Gangwon Province be prioritized, and President-elect Yoon responded, 'Now Gangwon Province must stretch its wings. I will definitely keep the promises made during the presidential election.'"
During the inspection of the Buron Industrial Complex in Wonju, he emphasized, "The Wonju city government explained its vision of becoming a future semiconductor city, wanting to play a role in the semiconductor industry, which the Yoon Seok-yeol administration is committing the nation's fate to."
President-elect Yoon reportedly responded, "It would be good for Wonju to be included in the Central Region Semiconductor Cluster and move forward together. Wonju should not only focus on digital healthcare but also draw a big picture toward the future as a semiconductor cluster, which will help the overall industrial development of South Korea. Semiconductor departments should also be established at universities in Gangwon Province to nurture talent."
Accompanying President-elect Yoon on his visit to Gangwon Province were Yoo Sangbeom, Chairman of the People Power Party Gangwon Provincial Committee; Lee Cheolgyu, Member of the National Assembly; Park Jeongha, preliminary candidate for the Wonju Gap by-election; Choi Seonghyeon, preliminary candidate for Chuncheon Mayor; and Won Gangsu, preliminary candidate for Wonju Mayor.
As the final schedule, President-elect Yoon and Candidate Kim visited Gangneung Central Market to express gratitude to citizens and listen to public sentiment.
