Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Operates 'Kidari Saem' Basic Academic Support for 1,765 Students

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will expand the operation of the 'Kidari Saem' project this year, where teachers provide small-scale customized supplementary learning to recover learning loss.

On the 4th, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it will invest 4.5 billion KRW in the Kidari Saem program budget for the 2022 academic year. The office will select 1,765 Kidari Saem teachers and support about 6,500 students in learning as well as psychological and emotional aspects.

The Kidari Saem program is a program where homeroom or subject teachers group students who have difficulties in emotional or learning areas into small groups of six or fewer and provide customized guidance. If individual instruction is needed, it can also be operated in small groups of one to two students. Students can receive customized guidance in small groups after school during the semester, on Saturdays and Sundays, or during vacation periods.

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education stated, "Based on the efforts and dedication of teachers, we will not leave a single child behind even in the COVID-19 situation," and added, "We will support the establishment of a school culture that cares for more students in need."
