'K-Beauty Exports'... Gyeonggi-do SMEs Lay Foundation for Entry into European Market '2022 Italy Bologna Beauty Exhibition' Gyeonggi-do Pavilion [Gyeonggi-do]

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Beauty-related companies in Gyeonggi Province have laid the groundwork for entering the European market.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 4th that "10 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the province achieved export consultation results worth $13.81 million from 278 cases at the 'Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna,' the largest comprehensive beauty industry exhibition in Europe."

According to the province, the exhibition, which started in 1963 and is now in its 53rd edition, featured about 2,500 companies from 22 countries worldwide showcasing various beauty products such as cosmetics, beauty tools, cosmetic containers, and labels.

Among them, the Gyeonggi Province pavilion attracted attention from overseas buyers and exhibition visitors with items such as natural cosmetics and beauty medical devices.

With the recent global recognition and interest in K-Beauty and Italy being the optimal foothold for entering Europe, the province expects this exhibition to serve as a channel for local companies to enter the European market.

Italy is well known as one of the four largest cosmetic markets in Europe, along with the UK and France, and ranks among the top 10 cosmetic markets worldwide. Participating companies were able to grasp the latest global trends and increase their potential for entering the European market.

The province plans to maximize results by supporting participating companies with post-export management, including contract preparation and certification.

Kim Tae-hyun, Director of the Foreign Affairs and Trade Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Currently, due to the Russia-Ukraine war and other factors, it is a very difficult situation for SMEs in the province to export," adding, "We will actively support participation in overseas exhibitions to expand overseas sales channels for SMEs in the province."
