Everland Caribbean Bay Transforms Beach Cafe into Caribbean Sea Theme Until Early June
[Asia Economy Reporter Yongjun Cho] Caribbean Bay in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, has transformed into a beach cafe themed around the Caribbean Sea. To welcome the full water play season, Caribbean Bay has opened the outdoor wave pool-centered Mar Caribe The Bayside Cafe (Mar Caribe Cafe), operating until early June. Mar Caribe means Caribbean Sea in Spanish.
Since introducing the water park in 1996, Caribbean Bay has evolved beyond the existing paradigm into a new complex cultural space.
Caribbean Bay, themed as a hideout for pirates who appeared along the Caribbean coast in the 18th century, is filled with exotic landmarks and sculptures such as an outdoor wave pool measuring 120m wide and 104m long, pirate ships, castle walls, and skulls.
In the beach chair zone, 17 palm trees up to 7 meters tall have been newly planted. Under the palm trees, a healing zone with about 260 seats including hammocks, bean bags, sofas, and hanging chairs has been prepared. Visitors can also enjoy various cocktails, fresh fruit juices, and Caribbean Sea specialty dishes like ceviche.
On one side of the outdoor wave pool, a giant full moon sculpture with a diameter of 10 meters, themed as the closest moon in the world, has been floated. Especially at night, the brightly lit full moon reflects on the wave pool surface, allowing visitors to take emotional photos with dozens of small moons, pirate ships, and other surroundings.
Next to the wave pool on the beach, there are photo spots including a 3-meter-high pirate ship sand sculpture and a selfie mirror zone, as well as a sandy play experience for families with children.
Mar Caribe operates daily from 1 PM to 9 PM. There is no admission fee; charges apply only when ordering food or drinks. Water play facilities are scheduled to open sequentially starting from the 21st.
A Samsung C&T Resort Division official stated, "We plan to continuously evolve into a year-round cultural experience space that offers customers new experiences every day, beyond the existing concept of a water park."
