[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulsan City will carry out drainage maintenance and dredging work within the jurisdiction by May 30 to prevent safety accidents and flooding caused by heavy rains during the rainy season and summer typhoons.
This work involves removing soil and sediment from drainage channels along 19 routes, including habitual flooding areas and main roads within the jurisdiction, and repairing defective drainage facilities.
In particular, the dredging work focusing on sediment removal inside drainage facilities will be conducted during daytime hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., when traffic volume is low, and nighttime work after 10 p.m. to minimize inconvenience to residents.
The city expects that securing an appropriate water flow cross-section through drainage maintenance and dredging will not only reduce damage caused by typhoons and heavy rains but also help create a pleasant road environment.
An official from Ulsan City said, “Some traffic congestion is expected, so we ask for citizens’ active cooperation, such as driving slowly when passing through the work zones,” and added, “We will install safety facilities such as traffic signal personnel and guide signs during the work to minimize inconvenience to citizens.”
