[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Cultural Heritage Administration’s Palace and Royal Tombs Headquarters and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation will hold the ‘2022 Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night Tour’ event from the 18th to the 29th of this month. The event will not operate on Mondays and Tuesdays and will be held twice a day at one-hour intervals starting from 6:40 PM. Online ticket reservations will begin on May 6th at 2 PM.
The ‘Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night Tour’ is a complex experience program exploring the northern area of Gyeongbokgung Palace. Visitors can enjoy royal court cuisine, traditional Korean music performances, and nighttime viewing together. Visitors entering Gyeongbokgung under the gentle starlight can savor the Dosut Surasang (royal meal) at the Oesojubang kitchen and watch traditional Korean music performances. They will also have a special experience exploring with professional guides the Janggo~Jibokjae, Palujeong~Geoncheonggung~Hyangwonjeong areas.
During the nighttime exploration, at Janggo and Hyangwonjeong, ‘small plays’ performed by professional actors will unfold, adding the fun of glimpsing the lives of people in the old royal palace. Additionally, visitors will revisit the traces of the king by touring the spaces where King Gojong lived, including Jibokjae~Palujeong, which contains stories about King Gojong, and Geoncheonggung, where electricity was first lit in Korea. Especially, the starlight pouring onto the water at Hyangwonjeong, which visitors will encounter last, and the night view of Seoul spreading behind it are highlights that the ‘Starlight Night Tour’ proudly offers.
Tickets for the ‘2022 Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night Tour’ will be sold on Interpark Ticket starting from 2 PM on May 6th, with a maximum of two tickets per person available for advance reservation. The participation fee is 60,000 KRW per person, and some seats with obstructed views during the traditional Korean music performance are priced at 55,000 KRW. Tickets for the two days, May 20th and 21st, during the ‘2022 Spring Royal Culture Festival’ will be available through a lottery application.
Additionally, for those aged 65 and over, persons with disabilities, and national merit recipients, up to two tickets per person per session can be reserved by phone through the Interpark Customer Center on a first-come, first-served basis.
