Jungjinkong Holds '1st Safety Management Committee' Meeting... "Safety-First Management"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 3rd that it held the 1st Safety Management Committee meeting at its headquarters in Jinju, Gyeongnam.

The Safety Management Committee is a deliberation and advisory body in the field of safety management established according to the government's "Guidelines on Safety Management of Public Institutions." It reviews and examines detailed implementation plans for SBC's safety management responsibility plan and provides recommendations during the formulation of safety management policies. The committee is chaired by Lee Sung-hee, Vice Chairman of SBC, and consists of a total of nine members: two external experts, one labor union nominee, and five internal members. To strengthen the committee's expertise, SBC appointed Professor Pi Young-gyu, majoring in Safety and Health at Daegu Haany University, and Kim Gap-han, Head of Industrial Accident Prevention Guidance Division at the Jinju Branch of the Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office, as external expert members. The term for external members is two years.

On this day, the committee deliberated on the detailed implementation plans of SBC's 2022 safety management responsibility plan. Additionally, the members exchanged various opinions on creating a safe working environment, safety management of subcontracted projects, facility safety management, and ways to spread a safety culture to meet the government's demand for establishing a rigorous safety management system for public institutions.

Reflecting the institution's role in safety and the public's high interest, SBC has established a promotion strategy titled "Safe SBC, Safe Small and Medium Ventures, Realizing a Safe Republic of Korea" and is operating a safety management system. This year, the dedicated safety management organization was upgraded from the Safety Management Team to the Emergency Safety Office.

Lee Sung-hee, Vice Chairman of SBC, said, "I expect that we will be able to establish more practical safety measures together with worker representatives and safety experts," and added, "We will do our utmost to ensure that no safety blind spots occur in the institution's operations and will strive to become a committee that marks a milestone in the development of the safety management system."
