[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) has completed the remodeling of 18 media poles along the 760m stretch between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station in collaboration with CGV, unveiling the new media poles on the 29th of last month after 2 years and 6 months.
The media poles are named ‘G-LIGHT,’ a word with multiple meanings including Gangnam, Great, Good, and Glow. The pillars are three-sided, with brand advertisements displayed on two pedestrian-facing sides and media art content on the side facing the roadway. Improved screen ratios and high-resolution LEDs enhance readability, and kiosks installed at the bottom of the media poles provide big data-based public information services such as popular restaurants and hot places, increasing advertising effectiveness and convenience for citizens.
Additionally, the district is presenting a media art show called ‘ArtScape,’ a portmanteau of art and landscape, in collaboration with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and CJ CGV. ‘ArtScape×Public,’ created in cooperation with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art’s Art Bank, is being screened daily at 8:30 PM, 9:30 PM, and 10:30 PM for five minutes each on 18 media poles and five outdoor media screens along Gangnam-daero since the 29th of last month.
Jung Soon-gyun, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “The new media poles G-LIGHT, which suit the image of Gangnam as a world-renowned tourist city and consider pedestrian convenience, will offer citizens a brighter Gangnam-daero. We will establish G-LIGHT as another landmark of Gangnam and further solidify Gangnam’s status as a world-class city.”
Geumcheon-gu announced that it will recruit ‘Geumcheon-type Excellent Safe Restaurants’ from May to December to improve dining culture vulnerable to infectious diseases.
The ‘Geumcheon-type Excellent Safe Restaurants’ target general and rest food establishments that provide regular meals. To be designated, restaurants must ▲serve food individually ▲disinfect and ventilate the restaurant ▲remove shared utensil containers and seasoning containers ▲provide trash bins in dining areas ▲appoint a quarantine manager ▲thoroughly manage hygiene in seating areas, kitchens, and among staff to create a safe dining environment.
Restaurants wishing to apply can download the application form from the ‘Geumcheon News’ bulletin board on the Geumcheon-gu website, fill it out, and submit it in person to the Hygiene Division or via email.
Geumcheon-gu plans to designate ‘Geumcheon-type Excellent Safe Restaurants’ after document review and on-site visits. Designated establishments will receive plaques and hygiene and quarantine supplies such as hand sanitizers, and the district will actively promote them through the Geumcheon-gu website and social media to encourage use.
Lee Byung-il, Head of the Hygiene Division, said, “The food industry has faced many difficulties due to COVID-19 and other factors. We hope many restaurants in Geumcheon-gu will apply to establish a safe dining culture and contribute to revitalizing the struggling food industry.”
Seodaemun-gu (District Mayor Moon Seok-jin) announced on the 3rd that it will conduct a special crackdown on unauthorized rooftop signs in the district from this month until August to prepare for the rainy season and typhoons.
Rooftop signs installed at the top of buildings are highly exposed to wind and rain and are larger than other advertisements, so if they fall, they can cause serious casualties and property damage.
Authorized rooftop signs are managed through periodic annual safety inspections, but unauthorized rooftop signs are prone to risks such as rust and corrosion at joints, and timely measures are difficult.
Accordingly, the district plans to conduct a full survey of rooftop signs and strictly respond by imposing fines and filing complaints against unauthorized installations, aiming for complete removal.
Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “As localized heavy rains increase due to climate change, we will thoroughly prepare in advance to prevent accidents such as falling signs.”
Mapo-gu announced that its ‘Hapmartte Commercial Area’ has been selected for the Seoul Local Brand Commercial Area Development Project, securing a project budget of 3 billion KRW.
‘Hapmartte’ is a portmanteau of Hapjeong and Montmartre (Hill of the Martyrs), referring to the area adjacent from Hapjeong Station Exit 7 to Yanghwajin Jeoldusan Martyrs’ Shrine.
The Hapmartte commercial area is located at Hapjeong Station, where Lines 2 and 6 intersect, offering convenient transportation and differentiated content such as Yanghwajin Jeoldusan Martyrs’ Shrine, Danginri Cultural Creation Factory, and Yanghwajin History and Culture Park.
Nearby are the Hongdae commercial area, Yeonnam-dong commercial area, and Design Publishing Development Promotion District, attracting trendy stores such as independent bookstores, exhibition galleries, and cafes.
The district plans to invest a total of 3 billion KRW over three years?2.7 billion KRW from the city and 300 million KRW from the district?to transform Hapmartte into a unique alley where the MZ generation gathers.
In the first year, 2022, the district will sign a win-win agreement between landlords and merchants and form a commercial area council involving stakeholders. Based on this, it plans to utilize abundant historical resources, unique specialty shops, exhibition galleries, and the design publishing industry.
A district official said, “We hope the development of Hapmartte commercial area will give hope to small business owners who have endured difficult times due to COVID-19.”
Gwangjin-gu is conducting an internet self-inspection for real estate brokerage accident prevention targeting 950 real estate agencies in the district until May 31.
Licensed real estate agents in Gwangjin-gu can log in by entering the representative’s name and agency registration number on the ‘Real Estate Self-Inspection’ menu under Real Estate/Land → Real Estate → Sector Information on the Gwangjin-gu website by May 31, then complete and submit the self-inspection form.
The main inspection items include ▲posting of real estate agent licenses and agency registration certificates ▲preservation of signed and sealed transaction contracts and property explanation documents ▲updates on related laws such as the Licensed Real Estate Agents Act and Real Estate Transaction Reporting Act ▲whether one-person household support projects are informed during lease brokerage for single-person households, among 35 items in total.
This internet self-inspection is meaningful in that, unlike guidance inspections focusing on post-accident measures, it allows licensed agents to proactively check and correct violations to prevent brokerage accidents.
Also, conducting the self-inspection online improves the efficiency of guidance inspections and minimizes face-to-face contact, helping prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Gwangjin-gu expects that licensed agents will review mandatory requirements and real estate policy updates once again, enabling residents to receive safer and more professional brokerage services.
On-site inspections will be conducted later for agencies that do not participate in the self-inspection within the period and in areas with frequent complaints. For detailed information on the self-inspection method, contact the Real Estate Information Division.
