Seoul City’s 1,069 Bicycle Convenience Facilities Information at a Glance on Smartphones

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 3rd that starting from the 4th, it will provide information on bicycle convenience facilities in 25 autonomous districts via mobile to make it more convenient and safer for bicycle users. The number of facilities with map information provided is 1,069, including 41 bicycle parking lots, 18 repair facilities, and 1,010 air pumps.

Until now, bicycle users had to individually access each district’s website to check information on bicycle convenience facilities, and the information provided was mainly administrative data in list form, which had limitations in leading to actual use.

From the 4th, bicycle users can check convenience facility information on the Seoul City Hall website and Smart Seoul Map. In addition to administrative information in list form, maps including location information can also be viewed. A mobile version is also provided, allowing users to conveniently check facility information centered on their location via smartphone even while riding.

Furthermore, the information provided on the Seoul City Hall website includes detailed information about the facilities in list form, enabling bicycle users to search for facilities they want to know more about. If any improvements such as location information errors or incorrect facility information are found in the newly provided bicycle convenience facility information, corrections will be reflected upon request to the bicycle department of the respective district, so active interest and participation from bicycle users are needed.

Seoul City plans to collaborate with private companies such as Kakao to provide information through various channels like private map platforms and bicycle navigation systems to enhance accessibility to bicycle convenience facility information and support more convenient use of facilities located in Seoul.

Oh Se-woo, head of the Bicycle Policy Division, said, “Providing mobile information on bicycle convenience facilities linked with map information will help bicycle users check facility information via smartphones even while riding, contributing to safer and more convenient bicycle use. We will continue to strive to provide various information to improve users’ riding convenience in the future.”
