[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam, is recruiting participants for the ‘2022 Street Artists Project,’ which supports amateur artists to freely perform in urban cultural and relaxation spaces.
The Street Artists Project is a program that provides performance fees to artists and groups who find it difficult to get opportunities to perform on stage, allowing them to hold small-scale performances. It was established to enhance the self-sustainability of artists and provide citizens with opportunities to experience culture in their daily lives.
The recruitment targets are individuals residing in Jinju City or performance teams based in Jinju, and applications are open regardless of genre, including singing, instrumental performance, magic, mime, and other unique performances.
Ten teams will be selected after a comprehensive review of whether individuals or groups who can continuously perform at least once a month can hold their own performances on the street with minimal equipment and the submitted video materials.
Selected artists will be active from May to November. Commercial performances for profit or those with political or religious purposes, or those deemed difficult to maintain the project, will be excluded from the screening or may have their qualifications revoked even after selection.
A city official said, “We will provide opportunities for amateur artists active in the region to showcase their talents and offer citizens a rich variety of sights and entertainment.”
