Kim Seyong, Professor at Korea University, Appointed New President of Urban Design Society

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Professor Kim Seyong of Korea University, who previously served as president of Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH), has been inaugurated as the new president of the Korean Urban Design Society.

According to the Urban Design Society on the 2nd, the society held a general meeting on the 30th of last month and appointed him accordingly.

President Kim graduated from the Department of Architecture at Korea University and completed his master's and doctoral degrees at Columbia University and Korea University. He has served as a member of the Seoul National University Urban Planning Committee, a member of the Presidential Committee on National Architecture Policy, and president of SH.

In his inaugural speech, President Kim emphasized, "I will strive to enhance the status and social role of the society, and actively participate and speak out on national policies and social issues." He also presented a vision to "lead academic activities at an international level and strengthen networks among the main society, branches, and academia-industry-government collaborations."

Meanwhile, founded in 2000, the Urban Design Society currently has over 5,000 members, bringing together domestic experts in the fields of urban planning, architecture, and landscape architecture.
