Jeongeup-si, Temporary Bridge Traffic Switch During Sinjeonggyo Reconstruction Period

Jeongeup-si, Temporary Bridge Traffic Switch During Sinjeonggyo Reconstruction Period

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk will switch vehicle traffic from Sinjeonggyo Bridge to a temporary provisional bridge starting from the 2nd to reconstruct the Sinjeonggyo Bridge in front of Sinjeong Village.

The city announced on the same day that as part of the Naejangsan Resort connecting road construction project, the existing two-lane Sinjeonggyo Bridge will be demolished and replaced with a four-lane bridge including both roadway and sidewalks.

Accordingly, the city installed a temporary provisional bridge for vehicle detours to minimize residents' traffic inconvenience during construction, prevent safety accidents, and shorten the reconstruction period.

The temporarily installed bridge is a steel bridge measuring 24 meters in length and 10.3 meters in width, with two lanes for two-way traffic and a 1.5-meter-wide sidewalk.

The number of lanes is the same as the Sinjeonggyo Bridge, but a sidewalk, which did not previously exist, was installed to ensure the safety of residents using the Yongsanho waterfront deck path.

Additionally, to prevent damage caused by heavy summer rains in advance, the bridge deck was installed higher than the flood level line, and structural safety has been thoroughly reviewed.

Along with this, in consultation with related organizations such as the Jeongeup Police Station, traffic guidance facilities for day and night and speed limit signs were sufficiently installed to ensure safety and visibility.

A city official said, “We plan to minimize traffic inconvenience caused by the use of the provisional bridge and shorten the reconstruction period as much as possible. We ask for the active cooperation of citizens despite some inconvenience during the construction period.”

Meanwhile, the Naejangsan Resort connecting road construction project is a regional development project that promotes local development by utilizing beautiful natural tourism resources and various historical and cultural assets.

With a national budget investment of 22.9 billion KRW, the project involves expanding and paving parts of City Road No. 22 connecting Sinjeong-dong, Yongsan-dong, Ssangam-dong areas with Naejangsan and Naejangsan IC.
