[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Kim Jin-tae, the People Power Party candidate for Governor of Gangwon Province, held an opening ceremony for his campaign office on the afternoon of the 30th in Dan-gye-dong, Wonju City, marking the start of a full-scale effort to consolidate support.
On this day, candidate Kim Jin-tae said, "If the party leader, party members of the National Assembly, party committee chairpersons, and all party members unite tightly, tie their shoelaces, and run, we will win by at least a 15% margin," expressing confidence by adding, "I will definitely win the June 1 local elections and come back."
Party leader Lee Jun-seok stated, "To empower the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and succeed in regional development, we must secure at least five out of eight regions including the metropolitan area, Chungcheong, and Gangwon besides Yeongnam," and promised, "The People Power Party will prioritize the Gangwon Province election in this local election."
Yoo Sang-beom, Gangwon Provincial Party Chairman (Hongcheon, Hoengseong, Yeongwol, Pyeongchang), said, "Shouldn't we bring the provincial government power back?" and emphasized the determination to reclaim the provincial government by saying, "If Kim Jin-tae wins, we win; if Kim Jin-tae loses, we lose."
National Assembly member Lee Yang-su (Sokcho, Inje, Goseong, Yangyang) said, "Seeing candidate Kim Jin-tae's face... today he looks very energetic, spirited, and determined, and I am confident that he will surely bring victory together with our party members and comrades."
Floor leader Kwon Seong-dong, who was absent from the event due to National Assembly schedule, encouraged through a video message, "I repeatedly congratulate and support former Assemblyman Kim Jin-tae, who was confidently elected after a difficult primary process."
The opening ceremony was attended by party leader Lee Jun-seok, Gangwon Provincial Party Chairman Yoo Sang-beom, National Assembly member Lee Yang-su, Wonju Gap party committee chairman Park Jeong-ha, former National Assembly members Lee Eon-ju, Jeon Hee-kyung, Kim Ki-seon, and Kim Gyu-hwan.
About 1,000 supporters of candidate Kim Jin-tae, party members from the Gangwon region, and citizens also visited the event venue to show their support for candidate Kim and their determination for certain victory.
