Sookmyung Women's University Selected for 3rd Phase Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Leading University Development Project

[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] Sookmyung Women's University announced on the 29th that it has been selected for the cooperation foundation establishment type in the third phase of the Leading University for Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation project, which aims to create an industry-academia-research cooperation ecosystem between universities and industries.


A total of 10 universities nationwide were selected for the cooperation foundation establishment type. Additionally, Sookmyung Women's University is the only women's university nationwide to receive government support of 2 billion KRW annually for six years, totaling 12 billion KRW.


In this project evaluation, Sookmyung Women's University's plans for university-business and regional-global sharing and collaboration in the sharing and cooperation domain were selected as exemplary cases. Going forward, the university plans to establish a regional university, other universities, and global collaboration system to build a strong small-to-medium-sized university industry-academia-research cooperation model. Furthermore, by mutually sharing project outcomes, it aims to evolve and develop into a demand-tailored growth track in the phase evaluation after three years.


Through this project, Sookmyung Women's University plans to establish the 'BEST TUNE UP' industry-academia-research cooperation leading model, covering bio-health, environment-energy, smart city, and digital humanity. To this end, it will build ▲ industry-demand-based curricula and activate convergence education curricula ▲ promote technology commercialization through the operation of the Bio-Health and Environment-Energy Industry Collaboration Centers (ICC) ▲ establish a startup-friendly ecosystem ▲ and develop a regional, zonal, and global scalable industry-academia-research sharing and collaboration system.
