Seongbuk-gu, the First Child-Friendly City, Children's Day 100th Anniversary Commemorative Program?


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu, the first UNICEF-certified child-friendly city in Korea, is hosting "I’m Just a Child Who Wants to Play" in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Children's Day, in collaboration with the Seongbuk Cultural Foundation.


"I’m Just a Child Who Wants to Play" is a program that utilizes various cultural facilities in the Seongbuk-gu area, including Arirang Children's Library, Seongbuk Children's Art Museum Kkumjaram, Culture and Arts Education Workshop Ham, and Arirang Cine Center, allowing children and their families to play joyfully and reflect on children's rights.


First, Arirang Children's Library will operate a "Library Playground." This program combines reading and play, where children complete fun tasks step-by-step and declare their own right to play. Various exhibitions, including storytelling sessions, will also be held. Participation requires prior registration. The recently renovated Seongbuk Children's Art Museum Kkumjaram operates the permanent exhibition along with the room "s DADA Declaration." Using the writing style of DADA artists from art history, children write their own declarations, providing an opportunity to explore their thoughts and feelings. From March, the newly established permanent exhibition "Aha, Us!" allows visitors to directly experience various collections from the Seongbuk Public Art Museum. Culture and Arts Education Workshop Ham has prepared the exploration experience program room "s Counseling Center: Children’s Problem Solvers!" aimed at toddlers and elementary school students. Participants explore Gireum-dong together and experience respect through children's declarations, among other activities. Arirang Cine Center’s "Our Family Theater Outing 4+Day" is a theater outing program for the whole family. From May 5 to 8, over three days, movies such as "Detective Butt Movie Version" will be screened at a discounted early bird price (4,000 KRW), allowing children and families to enjoy together. Additionally, the Canadian theater troupe Bouche Decoujou’s play "Daddy Chicken" will be screened for free. On May 5, Children’s Day, bubble play and paper airplane flying with the robot guide "Can" will also take place. Prior registration is required for Our Family Theater Outing 4+Day as well.
