[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seunghyun Jeong] The Jeonnam Regional Council of the National Unification Advisory Council held a Peace Empathy Talk Concert on the 27th to realize sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula.


According to the regional council on the 28th, the concert held at the Kim Dae-jung Nobel Peace Memorial Hall in Mokpo, Jeonnam, was held under the theme "Youth Talk About Peace!"


About 100 people attended the concert, including Jo Ok-hee, Vice Chairperson of the Jeonnam branch of the National Unification Advisory Council, Wang Hyo-geun, Vice Chairperson of the Youth Division, Park Jin-wan, Chairperson of the Jeonnam Youth Committee, and advisory members from 22 local government councils in Jeonnam.


The talk concert, themed "The Role of Youth in Realizing Green Peace," was hosted by Lee Hae-jung, a standing committee member of the National Unification Advisory Council. Panelists included Lee Yoo-jung, a North Korean defector, Heo Nam-jun, a professor at Suncheon National University, Jeong Dae-cheol, an advisory member of the National Unification Advisory Council, Choi Hee-jin, auditor of Shinan JC, and Irina Afanasenko, a lecturer.


The concert, conducted through free discussions by topic, shared the realities of North Korean youth and the current thoughts of South Korean youth on unification.


Ms. Irina, originally from Russia, added, "Given the heartbreaking reality of the recent Ukraine-Russia war, I hope for a swift resolution and that South Korea will also move toward unification, ushering in an era of peace."


This concert was the second phase of the Youth Peace Empathy Project, which is promoted in three stages. The first phase, "Planting Unification Trees" for peace and harmony on the Korean Peninsula, was planted in 22 local governments in Jeonnam.


Park Jin-wan, Chairperson of the Jeonnam Youth Committee of the National Unification Advisory Council, who led this project, said in the opening remarks, "I was very happy to be able to practice and create a peace unification project that resonates with youth," and pledged, "I will continue proactive activities in the National Unification Advisory Council to create an era of unification led and empathized by youth."


In his congratulatory remarks, Jo Ok-hee, Vice Chairperson of the Jeonnam branch of the National Unification Advisory Council, encouraged, "To complete the era of unification, our efforts and interest are necessary, and seeing youth take the lead and practice like this makes me think that time can be shortened."


Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Youth Committee of the National Unification Advisory Council, led by Chairperson Park Jin-wan, plans to pursue discussions on the implementation of youth peace practice measures and policy proposals, the final phase of this project, to seek sustainable unification activities.
