Vehicle Equipped with Negative Pressure Facilities and Equipment Necessary for Infectious Disease Diagnosis

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] To strengthen on-site response capabilities such as proactive infection prevention in large-scale infectious disease outbreak areas, Gangwon Province is introducing the nation's first "mobile infectious disease diagnostic vehicle" among local governments nationwide.
According to the Gangwon Provincial Institute of Health and Environment on the 28th, the vehicle was created by modifying a large truck into a mobile laboratory equipped with negative pressure facilities and equipment necessary for infectious disease diagnosis.
Using the genetic testing equipment installed inside the vehicle, it can perform various pathogen tests based on PCR methods, including viral respiratory infection diagnosis, group food poisoning, and detection of high-risk pathogens in the environment.
The Provincial Institute of Health and Environment plans to conduct proactive COVID-19 testing for foreign seasonal workers entering the province starting in May by utilizing the "infectious disease diagnostic vehicle."
In the future, the vehicle will be dispatched to major tourist sites with high population density during the summer and autumn holiday seasons to provide infectious disease diagnostic services.
After the stabilization of COVID-19, it will carry out pathogen surveillance on-site to ensure the safety of large-scale events held within the province.
Kim Young-soo, director of the Provincial Institute of Health and Environment, said, "By reducing the time required for specimen transport, we expect it to help rapid quarantine activities," and added, "As a regional infectious disease diagnostic hub, we will actively respond to public health crisis situations."
