Hamyang-gun Wins Korea's Prestigious Myeongga Premium Award for Wild Ginseng Four Consecutive Years

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The wild ginseng, a specialty product of Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, has won the Myungga Myungpum Grand Prize for four consecutive years.

According to the county, on the 28th at 2 p.m., Hamyang wild ginseng received the grand prize for four consecutive years in the regional brand category at the 2022 Korea Myungga Myungpum Awards held at the Korea Press Center.

The Korea Myungga Myungpum Awards is an event hosted by the Korea Myungga Myungpum Awards Committee and organized by the Korea Consumer Association. It selects products that represent Korea, lead the market, and have built a reputation as Myungga Myungpum through expert and consumer brand awareness surveys.

Based on the natural environment of Jirisan and Deogyusan, Hamyang-gun has been fostering premium wild ginseng since 2003. With 222 farms and 440 hectares registered for wild ginseng production, it is known as the largest wild ginseng production area in the country.

Since 2004, the county has held a wild ginseng festival to promote the excellence of Hamyang wild ginseng. Despite COVID-19, over 440,000 tourists visited the 2021 Hamyang Wild Ginseng Expo held last year.

Hamyang wild ginseng has introduced thorough production history management and wild ginseng guardian activities, established a foundation for premium wild ginseng production, and carried out special district projects for the wild ginseng industry. At the anti-aging production and distribution center, consumers can trust and purchase high-quality excellent wild ginseng at any time.

At the 17th Hamyang Wild Ginseng Festival, to be held from September 2, various experiential programs and attractions themed around wild ginseng are planned.

A county official stated, “Since the expo, Hamyang wild ginseng has become a Myungga Myungpum representing not only Korea but the world, serving as an opportunity to further devote efforts to the industrialization of wild ginseng.”
