Gangjin-gun Visits Central Government Departments to Secure Special Grants

[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin County in Jeonnam has secured special grants and embarked on full-scale efforts to promote major disaster and pending projects.

Yoo Mi-ja, Acting Governor of Gangjin County, visited the Grants Division of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 27th to explain projects necessary for local disaster safety management, resident welfare improvement, job creation, and regional economic revitalization, and requested support for special grants.

In March, the county identified 15 projects eligible for special grants, prioritized them, and held meetings with Kim Kyung-tae, Director of the Grants Division, and Lim Sung-beom, Head of the Special Grants Team at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, to explain the necessity and ripple effects of the projects and exchange opinions.

Among the main proposals related to disaster fields are repair and reinforcement works for Gaudo Dasan and Cheongja Bridge, and a small-scale drainage improvement project in the Myeongam district of Gundo-myeon.

In the pending project area, support was requested for the expansion of facilities such as the ecological exploration learning promotion center and ecological experience center in the Gangjin Bay Ecological Park area to prevent coastal water pollution and the installation of a public sewage treatment facility within the ecological park to preserve the Gangjin Bay ecosystem.

In particular, due to the population increase in the Hogye district of Gundo-myeon, requests were made to review road expansion and intersection structure improvements for traffic safety, as well as the expansion of the urban planning road section from Gangjin Fire Station to Koaru Apartments.

Yoo Mi-ja, Acting Governor of Gangjin County, stated, “Given Gangjin County’s financial conditions, securing national and provincial funds or special grants is essential. We will continue to visit central government departments, Jeonnam Province, and the National Assembly to secure budgets and do our best to promote regional development and improve the quality of life for residents.”
