Silla University Department of Computer Education Selected for 'This Year’s Information Education Network Operation Project' Silla University.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Silla University has been selected as the lead university for the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam region in the "2022 Information Education Network Operation Project" organized by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity.


The project aims to cultivate digital competencies centered on computational thinking to prepare for the artificial intelligence (AI) era in which future generations will live, and to support the strengthening of regional information (SW·AI) education capabilities.


This network project involves Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam provinces, with Silla University as the lead university. Partner universities include Busan National University of Education and Jinju National University of Education, and the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education, and Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education also cooperate, with numerous elementary and secondary schools that share the project's purpose participating.


The project will invest a total of 750 million KRW over three years, including 250 million KRW in the first year, to build infrastructure for revitalizing regional information education through ▲ establishing a regional network to raise awareness of information education ▲ developing and operating region-specific programs ▲ developing and applying guidelines for organizing and operating information education curricula for elementary, middle, and high schools ▲ operating teacher competency enhancement programs in information education.


Professor Noh Young-wook of the Department of Computer Education at Silla University, the project leader, stated, “As the lead university for the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam region, we will diligently carry out detailed projects to nurture local talents equipped with core information competencies required in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.”


The Department of Computer Education at Silla University is the only department established in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam areas, training future-oriented, field-customized information computer teachers reflecting trends to meet the increasing demand in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.
