People Power Party's Three Candidates Shortlisted for Uiryeong County Governor Primary, Including Incumbent Governor Oh Tae-wan Under Trial

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Oh Tae-wan, the current mayor, has been included in the list of People Power Party candidates for the Uiryeong County mayoral primary in the nationwide local elections this June.

The provincial party nomination management committee narrowed down the primary candidates to three through document and interview evaluations.

The candidates competing for the Uiryeong County mayoral election are Oh Tae-wan, the current mayor, Kim Jeong-won, former member of the National Assembly, and Seo Jin-sik, former member of the Gyeongnam Provincial Council.

Oh, who is seeking re-election after winning last year's by-election, was indicted in January this year on charges of forcibly molesting a female journalist.

The third trial is scheduled for June 15 at 2 p.m., following the second trial on the 13th, with the first trial verdict postponed until after the local elections.

Oh denies all charges and claims innocence, but attention is focused on how the indictment by the police and the ongoing trial will affect the voting sentiment of Uiryeong residents.
