"Ensuring Accuracy and Safety in Various Survey Environments"
The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on the 28th that it will invest 9.2 billion KRW by 2025 to integrate advanced technology into cultural heritage exploration and investigation. The projects include the development of smart exploration equipment for cultural heritage investigation, the development of unmanned free-moving underwater vehicles using autonomous navigation technology for underwater cultural heritage investigation, and the development of intelligent solutions for creating digital measured drawings of cultural heritage. The plan is to develop core technologies and apply them in the field to establish an industrial foundation. A Cultural Heritage Administration official expressed expectations that "accuracy, safety, and efficiency can be secured in various investigation environments."
Since last year, the Cultural Heritage Administration has been supporting eleven projects for the development of smart preservation and utilization technologies for cultural heritage under the 'Cultural Heritage Preservation, Management, and Utilization Research and Development Planning Project.' The three newly added projects went through a public announcement by the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage. On this day, nine organizations including the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, Geoview, and the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Dongguk University Gyeongju Campus signed research and development agreements to concretize the projects.
