Central Party Launches Rapid Investigation into Leak Allegations

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Kim Jongsik, a preliminary candidate for mayor of Mokpo, Jeonnam, from the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 27th that he "has no knowledge whatsoever and is not directly related" to the recent party membership application leak incident.

Candidate Kim explained, "Above all, the incident occurred in May of last year, and Park, who was reported to be related to the campaign, is just one of many volunteers in the campaign."

He continued, "I have neither received nor seen the party membership list that was reported by the media to have been transmitted," emphasizing once again, "I have absolutely no connection to the leak of the party membership applications."

Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Provincial Party Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea announced that the central party has launched an investigation into the suspected leak of party membership application files in the Mokpo area, which was raised ahead of the Mokpo mayoral candidate primary election.
