[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] DB Insurance announced on the 27th that it has been selected as the final operator for the ‘2022 Seoul City Stray Animal Safety Insurance Support Project’ and will carry out the stray animal adoption policy project for the second consecutive year following last year.
Now in its fourth year, the ‘Seoul City Stray Animal Safety Insurance Support Project’ is a policy aimed at alleviating citizens' concerns about diseases, injuries, and safety accidents involving stray dogs, and increasing the adoption rate of stray dogs.
DB Insurance’s ‘Promy Pet Insurance,’ provided to families adopting stray dogs, covers treatment and surgery costs due to diseases or injuries, including skin diseases.
This year, treatment costs for oral diseases in pets, which were not covered last year, have been newly added to the coverage items. Additionally, liability damages are covered if the adopted stray dog causes harm to another person's body or damages another person's pet.
The insurance period is one year from the date of application, and Seoul City supports the one-year insurance premium for ‘Promy Pet Insurance’ for adopting families who apply for insurance while adopting a stray dog from an animal protection and adoption center. Insurance applications are accepted until December 31 of this year, but enrollment may not be possible if the budget for this project is exhausted early.
A DB Insurance official said, “We are pleased to participate again this year in Seoul City’s stray animal adoption policy following last year,” and added, “DB Insurance will continue to cooperate with Seoul City to increase the adoption rate of stray dogs through the establishment of a long-term public-private partnership system and to help ‘stray dog adoption’ become a new culture of pet care.”
