Drone Education and Training Conducted for Provincial, City, and County Emergency Preparedness and Civil Defense Officers
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Gyeongsangbuk-do is responding to local disasters and protecting the lives and property of residents by utilizing drones in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
On the 27th, Gyeongbuk Province held drone education and training at the provincial office for emergency preparedness and civil defense officers from the province and cities/counties.
The education and training were organized under the slogan "Protecting residents' lives and safety through disruptive innovation and the passion of public officials," emphasizing the importance and necessity of drone use in disaster prevention, rescue operations, and joint emergency preparedness operations involving government, military, and police.
The province invited Jang Myeong-dong, CEO of Drone Korea Academy, to conduct theoretical lectures covering essential drone principles, related laws, and drone utilization cases, followed by drone flight training in the afternoon.
Additionally, discussions were held with the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Special Forces on drone suppression training to counter enemy drone attacks and terrorism.
During the drone flight training session, the Special Forces demonstrated to attendees how to suppress illegal drones using drone detectors and a "jamming gun."
Drones, one of the key technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, were primarily used as military unmanned aerial vehicles but have recently been widely applied in disaster monitoring, agriculture, broadcasting, and logistics.
They are especially actively used in disaster sites for local search and rapid rescue operations.
The safety department of Gyeongbuk Province owns two drones and actively utilizes them for disaster prevention and other purposes.
This year, they are introducing a drone tactical vehicle and building a server, with plans to incorporate artificial intelligence technology for disaster prevention activities in the future.
The province expects that once a complete drone system is established, it will greatly assist in making accurate and swift decisions by transmitting on-site disaster situations to the disaster command center via drones during disaster occurrences.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo stated, "The importance of drones in disaster safety and rescue is growing day by day," adding, "We will protect the lives and safety of residents through generous investment, disruptive innovation, and the passion of public officials."
