About 30 people, including citizens, social organizations, and police officials, attended the meeting.
The 'Citizen and Police Communication Committee' is a council launched in 2017 to reflect the vivid voices of citizens in policing activities.
The council is chaired by Park Jae-yul, co-chairman of the National Decentralization Solidarity, and is composed of a total of 18 members, including executives of civic groups in the Busan area.
The civic groups participating in the council include the Youth Violence Prevention Foundation, Human Rights Counseling Center, Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice, Korea Federation for Environmental Movements, People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy, BBS Busan City Federation, Korean Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations, Consumer Federation, and Busan Women and Family Development Institute.
The meeting proceeded in the order of ▲report on the 2022 Busan Police policy direction and key tasks ▲introduction and demonstration of search drones ▲free discussion.
During the free discussion, suggestions were made such as ▲proactive response to stalking in the metaverse ▲expansion of incentives for elderly drivers to surrender their licenses ▲strengthening education and support for juvenile offenders.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency decided to actively review the opinions raised at the meeting and reflect them in future policies.
Lee Gyu-moon, chief of the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, said, “Busan Police plan to listen to citizens' voices through various channels and carry out customized policing activities based on them.”
