Kang Yong-seok, "Yoon Seok-yeol's Eyes and Ears Are Blocked, Lee Jun-seok and Kwon Seong-dong Must Be Expelled"... Criticizes 'Prosecutor Reform' Mediation Proposal

"'Agreement on the 'Complete Inspection Ban Mediation' is an act similar to the 'Eulsa Treaty' and the 'Giyu Memorandum'"

Kang Yong-seok, "Yoon Seok-yeol's Eyes and Ears Are Blocked, Lee Jun-seok and Kwon Seong-dong Must Be Expelled"... Criticizes 'Prosecutor Reform' Mediation Proposal On the afternoon of the 25th, Kang Yong-seok, a preliminary candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor (second from the left in the photo), held a joint press conference opposing the 'Complete Prosecution Reform' in front of the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, together with Lee Bong-gyu (Lee Bong-gyu TV), Kim Se-ui (Garosero Research Institute), and Cha Myung-jin, the election committee chairman (Kang Yong-seok campaign). [Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Kang Yong-seok, an independent preliminary candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor whose entry into the People Power Party was denied, called on Kwon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, to resign regarding the bipartisan agreement on the 'Geomsu Wanbak' (complete removal of the prosecution's investigative authority), saying, "Since he has been under investigation for six years over the 'Kangwon Land case,' he wants to strip the prosecution of its investigative authority."

He also criticized Lee Jun-seok, the party leader who was referred to the party ethics committee over allegations of 'sexual bribery,' saying, "Lee Jun-seok, a forger of evidence and a bribe taker, must resign as party leader and be arrested for the People Power Party to stand upright."

On the afternoon of the 25th, Kang Yong-seok held a joint press conference in front of the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido regarding 'Geomsu Wanbak,' criticizing, "'The agreement on the Geomsu Wanbak mediation' is a collusion between the ruling and opposition parties orchestrated by Floor Leader Kwon with National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok and Democratic Party Floor Leader Park Hong-geun, an act akin to the 'Eulsa Treaty' and the 'Giyu Memorandum.'"

The 'Eulsa Treaty' was a treaty forcibly signed by Japan in 1905 to deprive the Korean Empire of its diplomatic rights and dominate the country. It was concluded with the approval of the 'Five Eulsa Traitors' (Yi Wan-yong, Park Je-sun, Lee Ji-yong, Lee Geun-taek, and Kwon Jung-hyun), led by Yi Wan-yong.

The 'Giyu Memorandum' was a 1909 memorandum entrusting Korea's judicial and legal affairs to the Japanese government. It was exchanged between Prime Minister Yi Wan-yong of the Korean Empire and Sone Arasuke, the second Resident-General of Japan.

Kang criticized 'Geomsu Wanbak,' saying, "It is a law that benefits 99.9% of the people not at all, and those who benefit from 'Geomsu Wanbak' are Lee Jun-seok and Kwon Seong-dong, who dominate the People Power Party, along with a handful of lawmakers. They are trying to hide bribes related to nomination fees and permits and are attempting to tie the hands and feet of the Korean prosecution to prevent investigations."

He continued, "Without prosecution in Korea, corruption among lawmakers, local mayors, and public officials cannot be stopped. The prosecution's investigative authority exists for 99.9% of the Korean people," strongly criticizing 'Geomsu Wanbak.'

He also said, "The problem is that disguised right-wingers who led the impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye are now at the center of the People Power Party, serving as party leader and floor leader," emphasizing again, "Party members of the People Power Party should not be intimidated by Lee Jun-seok and Kwon Seong-dong. The owners of the People Power Party are the party members and the people who have protected it until now."

Kang raised his voice, saying, "Among the 500,000 responsible party members of the People Power Party, 50,000 agreed to impeach party leader Lee Jun-seok. Let's follow the will of the people, expel Lee Jun-seok and Kwon Seong-dong, reform the People Power Party, and win the local elections."

He appealed, "We must expel Lee Jun-seok and Kwon Seong-dong, who blind the eyes and ears of President-elect Yoon Seok-youl, and after the Yoon administration's stable launch on May 10, normalize Korea, which was ruined by former President Moon Jae-in over the past five years."

Meanwhile, Cha Myung-jin, a former lawmaker and the campaign committee chairman for Kang Yong-seok, who attended the press conference, said, "The reason for opposing 'Geomsu Wanbak' is that Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong, who led the impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye, pushed for the 'Geomsu Wanbak collusion,' and Lee Jun-seok, who said to forget the impeachment, led the 'Geomsu Wanbak collusion' while watching over Minister of Justice nominee Han Dong-hoon to prevent his own imprisonment."

Political commentator Lee Bong-gyu (Lee Bong-gyu TV) stated, "Lee Jun-seok should not stop at resigning as party leader but must be arrested. Kwon Seong-dong also committed a conspiracy to overthrow the constitution and must resign as floor leader and be arrested."

Kim Se-ui, head of the Garosero Research Institute, criticized, "Lee Jun-seok is using a dissociative rhetoric as if he did not agree to the Geomsu Wanbak collusion," explaining, "There is material of Lee Jun-seok directly discussing on broadcast. In it, Lee said he negotiated when Kwon Seong-dong was making a secret collusion."

At the press conference venue, supporters of Kang Yong-seok and citizens opposing Geomsu Wanbak gathered together, shouting slogans against Geomsu Wanbak and demanding the resignation of the People Power Party leadership.

On the same day, Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong reversed his previous stance regarding the 'Geomsu Wanbak' mediation plan, saying, "There is a need for the ruling and opposition parties to reconsider the content that strips the prosecution's investigative authority over election and public official crimes."
