[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] On the 25th, Beolgyo-eup Administrative Welfare Center in Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has promoted the new policy project of "Strawberry Experience with Low-Income Children and Local Specialty Products" this year to establish a local community safety net and resolve welfare blind spots.
The "Strawberry Experience with Low-Income Children and Local Specialty Products" policy, hosted by Beolgyo-eup Hope Dream Council (co-chairmen Seon Nam-gyu and Jo Hyo-ik), was held over two days on the 23rd and 24th at Singsing Farm located in Joseong-myeon.
Children from 40 households residing in the area participated, and 16 members of the Beolgyo-eup Hope Dream Council volunteered.
The children who participated in the experience activity enjoyed a joyful time by harvesting strawberries directly with their parents and engaging in activities such as making strawberry cakes and cookies.
Kim 00, a child who took part in the experience, said, "Due to COVID-19, I couldn't play fun games with my friends and felt depressed, but I was very happy to pick strawberries outside and make cakes with my mom and friends."
Seon Nam-gyu, mayor of Beolgyo-eup, said, "Children seemed to have experienced depression due to the lack of various activity opportunities for two years because of COVID-19. Seeing their smiling faces during this strawberry experience makes me pleased, and I will do my best to spread a culture of sharing with continuous interest so that no child is left out."
Meanwhile, last year, the Beolgyo-eup Hope Dream Council also promoted a "Birthday Celebration" event for about 100 families of marriage immigrant women, receiving a good response.
