Shin Woo-cheol, Candidate for Wando County Governor, Urges "Stop Baseless Negativity" Shin Woo-cheol, Preliminary Candidate for Wando County Governor

[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters reporters Lee Jun-gyeong and Choi Kyung-pil] Shin Woo-cheol, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for Wando County Governor, held a press conference at his election office in Wando County on the 25th, urging to "stop negative election campaigns such as slander and defamation."

On this day, preliminary candidate Shin Woo-cheol said, "It is absolutely unacceptable as candidates from the same party to hold a joint press conference and draft an agreement to block the three-term election of the head of the local government guaranteed by the Local Autonomy Act," and proposed, "Let us stop negative campaigns such as slander and defamation, participate fairly in the primaries, and foster a clean and mature election culture."

He presented eight core task pledges: ▲ Establishment of transportation networks such as expressways and coastal tourist roads ▲ Promotion of marine healing industry and marine bio-industry ▲ Creation of island gardens ▲ Attraction of coastal fishing fleets ▲ Development of new high-income crop varieties ▲ Expansion of welfare services ▲ Expansion of production bases for agriculture and fisheries ▲ Successful hosting of sports competitions and the International Seaweed Expo.

Candidate Shin evaluated himself, saying, "Over the past eight years, I reflected the second phase of the Gwangju-Wando expressway in the national plan and upgraded the Wando-Goheung coastal tourist road to a national road after 20 years," and "I upgraded the local road from Haenam Songji to Wando Nohwa-Soan to build the Nohwa-Soan connecting bridge."

He added, "We secured about 100 billion won in project costs to attract the National Subtropical Arboretum and to establish infrastructure for the marine healing industry and marine bio-industry, which is currently underway."

Furthermore, he said, "We attracted large-scale events such as the Jeonnam Provincial Sports Festival, the Jeonnam Disabled Sports Festival, and the Life Sports Grand Festival next year, and various sports facilities including the Wando County Multipurpose Indoor Gymnasium are nearing completion," and emphasized, "We attracted a fire station, a long-standing wish of the residents, and reopened the Wando branch of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, which had been closed."

He repeatedly emphasized, "Major pending projects are progressing well, including creating a blueprint to raise the status of Cheonghaejin Wando by hosting the 2025 Wando International Seaweed Expo."

Candidate Shin appealed for support, saying, "Let us engage in the gubernatorial election with transparent pledges and policies for the development of Wando County and the happiness of its residents, each leveraging their own strengths," and "I want to be a governor who leaves with applause from the residents four years from now."
