On the 22nd, Earth Day, a Lotte Food employee explained eco-friendly practices and the plan to launch Pasteur Milk without straws at Sejong Doran Kindergarten, while listening to the children's opinions.
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Lotte Food is starting the production of strawless carton milk.
On the 25th, Lotte Food announced that on Earth Day, April 22, they met with children from Doran Kindergarten in Sejong City to explain plans for launching strawless carton milk. This meeting was in response to a letter and 1,200 unused straws collected and sent by the children and teachers of Doran Kindergarten at the end of last year, requesting the production of strawless carton milk.
Based on the letters received at the customer service center, Lotte Food conducted internal discussions regarding the feasibility of producing products without straws and sales channels, and decided to produce the strawless Pasteur Bareun Farm Milk 190ml. The product will be sold online through platforms such as Lotte Food Mall, with plans to expand sales channels depending on customer response.
Additionally, the straws attached to existing carton milk will be replaced with eco-friendly certified straws. These eco-friendly straws reduce plastic usage by about 30% by adding plant-based materials. This full application of eco-friendly certified straws is the first in the dairy industry.
A Lotte Food representative said, “Although strawless carton milk may be somewhat inconvenient, we hope people will join us in this effort to honor the wishes of children,” adding, “We will continue various initiatives to protect the Earth that children will live on.”
Lotte Food has established the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) slogan 'Go Green With Us' and has been pursuing various eco-friendly management efforts, including ▲introducing eco-friendly electric vehicles to all sales staff for the first time in the industry ▲switching Pasteur delivery baby food packaging to eco-friendly materials ▲industry-first full adoption of eco-friendly gift set packaging ▲industry-first introduction of eco-friendly packaging for ice cream and frozen foods ▲mug cup usage campaigns ▲establishment of an ESG committee and the creation of Environment Management and ESG teams.
