Nine out of 26 missing persons from the sinking of a sightseeing boat in Hokkaido, Japan, have been rescued.
According to local media on the 24th, nine of the missing were rescued that morning and transported to a nearby hospital. Among them, eight are unconscious.
Earlier, on the afternoon of the 23rd, a sightseeing boat carrying 26 people sank off the coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido, Japan.
The sightseeing boat reported to the Japan Coast Guard that the bow was flooding and sinking, and after notifying that "the hull was tilted about 30 degrees," contact was lost.
The accident area is known to be dangerous due to fast tidal currents and reefs. The Japan Coast Guard is conducting a search of the accident area by dispatching helicopters and patrol vessels.
