Democratic Party Gyeonggi-do Committee Nomination Committee Excludes Paju Mayor Choi Jong-hwan Following Yoon Hwa-seop and Park Seung-won

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Following Ansan Mayor Yoon Hwa-seop and Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won, Paju Mayor Choi Jong-hwan was also excluded from the Democratic Party's nomination for the June local elections for basic local government heads in the Gyeonggi region.

The Democratic Party Gyeonggi Provincial Party Public Office Election Candidate Recommendation Management Committee (Recommendation Committee) announced the results of the 4th nomination screening for basic local government heads in the province for the June 1 local elections on the 24th through its website.

As a result of the 4th screening, incumbent Paju Mayor Choi Jong-hwan was excluded from the nomination. This is the third time an incumbent mayor has been eliminated in the provincial party's nomination screening, following Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won and Ansan Mayor Yoon Hwa-seop. Accordingly, the candidates for the Paju mayoral primary have been narrowed down to three: Kim Kyung-il, Lee Sang-hyeop, and Jo Il-chul.

The mayoral primaries for Namyangju (Shin Min-chul, Choi Min-hee, Yoon Yong-su) and Yangju (Park Jae-man, Lee Hee-chang, Jeong Deok-young) will also be three-way contests. The primaries for Anyang (Lim Chae-ho, Choi Dae-ho) and Yongin (Baek Gun-gi, Lee Geon-han) have been narrowed down to two candidates.

The provincial party's recommendation committee has completed nomination screenings for 26 out of 31 basic local government election districts in the Gyeonggi region as of this day.
