[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] LG Electronics will launch a Korean-style lawn mowing robot optimized for domestic usage environments such as country houses and pensions on the 26th.

On the 24th, LG Electronics announced that it has newly developed a Korean-style lawn mowing robot optimized for domestic lawns and garden environments, focusing on the increasing demand for lawn care as the number of country houses rises and residential types such as detached houses diversify. The product underwent a two-month beta test with 50 customers and field tests at the National Daejeon Memorial Cemetery and the Korean Archery Range, reflecting user feedback on product performance and installation.

The robot can mow the grass to a minimum length of 2cm, catering to domestic customers' preference for short grass maintenance. When installing the product, the use of an automatic undergrounding device ensures that the wire setting the robot's operating area is not exposed above ground, preserving the landscape.

The LG lawn mowing robot can manage lawns up to 3,000㎡ (approximately 900 pyeong) and slopes with an incline of up to 25 degrees.

This product is equipped with a protection function that detects obstacles such as trees or stones in the garden, slows down to prevent damage, and changes direction. Since mowing during rain can cause soil damage or harm the grass, the rain sensor detects rainfall and automatically returns the robot to the charging station.

Customers can use various convenient features through a dedicated smartphone app. By setting the desired days and times for mowing, the lawn mowing robot operates automatically. Additionally, the smart diagnosis feature allows users to check the causes of malfunctions and solutions, and the location tracking function for the robot in operation is also convenient.

Customers can purchase the LG lawn mowing robot at LG Best Shops and gardening-related distribution channels such as Farm Hannong and Dongyang Tech Tool stores. The price is set at 5.8 million KRW based on the shipment price.

Meanwhile, LG Electronics plans to launch a commercial robot vacuum cleaner next month. This product can clean an area of up to 600㎡ (approximately 180 pyeong), making it suitable for offices or hotel lobbies. Equipped with both LiDAR sensors and cameras, it can clean large areas even at night.

Baek Seung-tae, Vice President and Head of the Living Appliance Business Division at LG Electronics H&A Business Division, said, “With LG Electronics' advanced robot technology, the Korean-style lawn mowing robot developed for domestic customers will provide an innovative customer experience that makes garden management easy and convenient.”
