Mother swings blunt weapon at son saying "I don't know the online class password"

Mr. A has a history of abusing his son, previously saying "I can't memorize the multiplication table" and "I didn't do my homework"

A mother who swung a blunt weapon at her son, claiming she did not know the password for the online class, was sentenced to prison.

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Se-eun] A mother, A (39), who swung a blunt object at her teenage son for not knowing the password to his online class, was sentenced to prison.

On the 23rd, Judge Kang Hee-kyung of the Changwon District Court Criminal Division 4 announced that A was sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison with a 3-year probation.

On the 7th, A scolded her teenage son at their residence in Uichang-gu, Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, saying, "You don't even know that?" when he asked for the password to his online class.

Frightened, the son tried to escape outside pleading for mercy, but A hit him in the face with a blunt object from on top of the shoe rack. As a result, the son sustained injuries including a torn philtrum.

A had previously abused her son by corporal punishment for not memorizing multiplication tables and by kicking him out of the house for not doing homework.

However, it was confirmed that she had received a suspension of prosecution on the condition of counseling through a child protection agency.

Judge Kang additionally ordered A to undergo probation, a 3-year ban on employment at child-related institutions, and to complete 120 hours of child abuse treatment lectures.

He added, "The defendant is the biological mother who should cherish and protect the victim more than anyone else," and "The nature of the crime is very serious."
