[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Presidential Inauguration Preparation Committee unveiled a new presidential inauguration emblem with changes to the existing design on the 22nd.
The committee stated that the new emblem symbolizes the legitimacy of the Republic of Korea by depicting the 'Taegeuk' as powerful wings.
The new emblem expresses 'connection,' 'promise,' and 'new hope.' The committee explained, "The design simplifies the process of national unity through the inauguration ceremony into a process of connecting: unraveling, tying, and linking."
Earlier, on the 11th, the committee had revealed an emblem designed using the 'Dongsimkyeol' (traditional knot), a symbol of promise.
However, after criticism arose that the emblem resembled the 'Sadongsimkyeol,' which is used in funeral rites for the deceased, the committee announced on the 12th, just one day later, that they would upgrade the emblem to prevent unnecessary controversy.
Meanwhile, to commemorate President Yoon Seok-yeol's inauguration, the committee will hold a 'National Hope Video' submission campaign from the 23rd to the 30th.
Videos on the theme 'The Korea I Dream Of' can be recorded on mobile phones and sent to the committee's email. For more details, please refer to the committee's official website.
