Chonnam National University 5·18 Research Institute April Seminar 'Why Gwangju Hearing?'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Chonnam National University will hold a seminar titled "Why Gwangju Hearing?" on the 26th at the Yongbong Hall conference room.

The 5.18 Research Institute at Chonnam National University invited Shim Yong-hwan, director of the History N Research Institute (adjunct professor at Sungkonghoe University), to raise voices demanding the truth about the pain and memories of May and to hold those responsible accountable, while also demonstrating citizens' will to demand the truth about state violence.

In a previous seminar, the 5.18 Research Institute discussed "How to Teach 5.18 Oral Materials," contemplating ways to lead a future of peace and human rights together with children growing up in the field.

The 5.18 Research Institute has been conducting seminars to understand the latest issues and status of 5.18 and to seek new directions for research.

This year's theme is "New Trends in New 5.18 Research," providing a place for May-related institutions to exchange and cooperate with a renewed mindset for researching the May 18 Democratic Movement.
