[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Hana Tour announced on the 22nd that it held 'Jigudawoom Day,' a plogging activity along the coast of Jeju Island in celebration of Earth Day.
April 22 is Earth Day, established in 1970 to raise awareness about the seriousness of global environmental pollution. This year marks its 52nd anniversary.
As part of its ESG management activities, Hana Tour held the '2022 Earth Day Event: Jigudawoom Day Together at Hana Tour Daum Stay' on the 16th at Jeju Stay 'Daum' Bukchon Pogujip located in Jeju Island.
Prior to the event, Hana Tour promoted 'Jigudawoom Day' using Instagram cartoons popular among the MZ generation. Additionally, 20 participants who actively took part in the 'Jigudawoom Challenge,' which certifies eco-friendly travel practices such as using reusable containers, taking public transportation, and collecting trash during trips, were selected to join the event.

The participants engaged in plogging by picking up marine litter at Bukchon Pogujip in Jeju, and carried out various activities for environmental protection, including creating decorative objects by recycling the collected trash.
Jeju Stay 'Daum' Bukchon Pogujip is a 'Village-Wellness' accommodation facility where Hana Tour remodeled vacant houses, a social issue in the Jeju community, into lodging facilities to address environmental problems and shares part of the profits with the local community, promoting coexistence with the region.
A Hana Tour official stated, "This Jigudawoom Day event is an opportunity to reconsider the value of the environment, as it involves upcycling activities that transform marine litter into objects within a space where previously abandoned vacant houses have been newly reborn."
