Nam-gu announced on the 21st, "We will present the Yangnim Art Market, a meeting place for explorers and artists in Yangnim-dong, a representative tourist destination of Gwangju and Jeonnam, until early November."
The Yangnim Art Market was prepared to revitalize the local economy through culture and arts and to facilitate active communication between artists and tourists through various works.
It takes place every Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. around the Penguin Village Craft Street, where resident artists of Penguin Village Craft Street in Yangnim-dong and artists active in the Gwangju area will communicate with visitors to Yangnim-dong through their works.
At this art market, visitors can purchase artists' works, participate in experience activities, and watch busking performances.
First, resident artists in Yangnim-dong are expected to present various artworks such as junk art made from resource recycling, pottery, silver rings, jewelry, and handmade accessories.
In addition, Gwangju area artists will showcase embroidery crafts, accessories, knitted items, natural beauty products, fabric and leather goods, as well as food items such as handmade syrup, jam, and cream cheese.
Artists selling works at the art market will be rotated weekly.
Along with this, visitors can also enjoy busking performances that offer a fantastic harmony at the Yangnim Art Market site.
Nam-gu plans to provide diverse attractions to visitors of Yangnim-dong by recruiting two teams: "Gwangju Busking," a busking community and platform in the Gwangju area offering various genres of performances, and "Beodeulsup Busking," active in Yangnim-dong.
The two busking performance teams will perform every other week, presenting popular songs, pop, and instrumental performances.
