[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 21st, the Northern Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it conducted fire safety education for about 50 people, including officials and facility users, at a local vocational rehabilitation center for the disabled.
The education was provided to disabled individuals preparing for economic activities with self-reliance skills and center staff, focusing on fire safety training necessary for quick response in emergency situations. It was conducted as customized, experience-based training tailored to the characteristics of the facility and its users to prevent any blind spots in safety education.
The main topics included ▲ proper 119 emergency call procedures and multi-media reporting services ▲ the necessity and methods of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) ▲ CPR experience and practice ▲ use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
Kim Gil-soon, head of the Life Safety Team, stated, “CPR is an emergency procedure that artificially circulates blood when cardiac arrest occurs,” adding, “If family members or nearby people provide appropriate first aid before paramedics arrive, the patient’s survival rate can be increased.”
