Topiary Symbolizing Water Festival Created Along Tamjin Riverside, Boosting Water Festival Atmosphere
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 20th that it has created topiaries reflecting the local color along the Tamjin River to prepare for this summer's Water Festival.
This year's Water Festival will be held for 9 days from July 30 to August 7 under the theme "Water and Forest - 休".
In preparation for the 15th Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival, the county has been raising the festival atmosphere early by creating topiaries along the Tamjin River to promote Jeongnamjin Jangheung and the Water Festival.
In the topiary section formed on the west embankment of the Tamjin River, about 4,500 golden euonymus plants were additionally planted to create shapes symbolizing the Tamjin River and the Water Festival, such as a "water drop" shape and the Korean character for "water".
With the recent lifting of social distancing and signs of the COVID-19 situation transitioning to endemic, expectations for the Water Festival to be held in Jangheung-gun after three years are rising.
The county plans to create flower gardens and four-season gardens and install sculptures to offer beautiful and diverse waterfront scenery to tourists and local residents visiting the Tamjin River.
A Jangheung-gun official said, "We will continue to do our best to create a beautiful Tamjin River to provide new attractions and beautiful waterfront scenery to tourists visiting Jangheung."
